See this content in the original post

In this episode of the, It’s Not What It Seems podcast, I have an interesting conversation with Daniel Pink. Dan is the author of six provocative books, including his newest, When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing, which spent four months on the New York Times Bestseller List, and was named a “Best Book of 2018” by Amazon, iBooks, Goodreads, and several more outlets. His other books include the long-running New York Times bestseller A Whole New Mind, and the #1 New York Times bestsellers Drive and To Sell is Human. His books have won multiple awards and have been translated into 39 languages.

I have so much respect and admiration for Dan as a writer. Plus, he was a ton of fun to chat with and we have the same favorite pizza restaurant.

In this conversation, we’ll discuss:

  • Dan’s favorite pizza in New Haven (6:58)

  • The first lesson he’d teach in the Dan Pink writing course (8:58)

  • Why he wrote his previous books:

    • The Adventures of Johnny Bunko (10:55)

    • A Whole New Mind (13:15)

    • Drive (16:11)

    • To Sell is Human (21:15)

  • The best time to do your most important work (26:16)

  • The “danger-zone” time period of the day (29:25)

  • What larks, owls, and third-birds are, and how you figure out which one you are (34:14)

  • The importance of taking breaks (42:13)

  • What is “nappuccino?” (46:10)
